Makar Sankranti is one of the most important festivals in India which is celebrated with much zeal and grandeur. Before the arrival of this festival, people start preparing sweets and lip-smacking dishes to celebrate a good harvest period. Women offer the Shreemangalchandika prapatti and even offer it after the sunset on the day of Sankranti. This auspicious day holds significance, Mata Mahishasurmardini, with the purpose of destroying Mahishasur, first set foot on earth, in the Kataraaj ashram of Rishi Kardam and Devahuti. Welcome the Makar Sankranti festival with lots of Tilgul, celebrations and kites. It’s time for all of us to begin a life which is full of purity, knowledge and wisdom.
